March Madness

This post has nothing to do with basketball, but it's March and things feel crazy in the Irelands' lives.

First things first: Emily's little sister will arrive by scheduled c-section on May 21, which is soon! Emily has learned how to say the word "sister," but I'm pretty sure she doesn't really know what it means.

Now on to the pictures. We have this neat tray on a low shelf, and Emily has taken to using it as "my boat." She uses one of her "putters" as a "paddle" so she can sit in the den and row. She's got a fun little imagination.

She's also all girl and loves to dress up. She was in her room by herself for a while the other night, and she came out with some treasures she found in a dresser drawer for unseasonal/too small items. She was wearing white patent leather shoes that are two sizes too small (so she was walking in them like high heels, basically) and this summer hat. She was pretty proud of herself.

Here's how I found her the other day after her nap. That's a tennis shoe hitched up on the bumper and a lamb ("Baa") strewn across her face.

Also, is mine the only kid who sleeps with thirty seven books and animals and other items (like a pom-pom) in her bed?
We have a potty for Emily, although we're not really potty training yet. I'm just trying to get her used to the idea; I don't figure there's any reason to focus on it before the baby comes because she'd likely revert after the baby is born anyway. But she does like to sit on the potty and pretend to te-te sometimes. She also likes flashlights ("my flash").

Aaaaand, the potty is a great thing to climb on.

Finally, here are a couple of pictures of Emily in a rare moment of quiet contemplation.

She wanted to take "my Bible" to bed with her the other night but we knew she'd rip the delicate pages up if left alone with it. Pretty funny that she was interested in a book with no pictures.

I love her bed---Hayes has one that could rival that! He piles up his toys in his bed and crashes after he plays his heart out! She is too cute!
