fishin' on the Fourth

This weekend, we went to Robert's uncle's lake house for a little Fourth of July fishing. The last time Emily really went fishing was, well, a while ago.

Here's a surprise: she refused to look at the camera and smile!

But her fishing partner, Robert, reported that she caught four fish all by herself (once he cast the line), including one really big one.

Abby, meanwhile, enjoyed the company, the squirt bottle, and the shade of the boathouse.

Oh, and also the chairs.

And, um, choking hazards.

Robert's dad brought Emily out to a remote part of the lake where Robert was fishing, and Em, Bert, and cousin Matthew took a canoe back to the boathouse!

Dad got in a little quality time with Abby, who enjoyed some QT with his shades.

And Emily discovered the wonder of a cool squirt of water on a hot hot day.
